A little understanding
goes a long way.
Straightforward answers to common questions, plus the sources behind the methods and opportunities described on this website.
Can you tell exactly what is underground?+
Geophysics helps infer underground conditions from measurements. Different geological arrangements can produce similar signals. We compare several sources of evidence and explain uncertainty; drilling and sampling may still be needed.
Do I need to buy a survey first?+
No. A preliminary consultation and existing-data review may be the right starting point. We recommend new measurements when they can address an important gap.
Can MT find geothermal energy?+
MT helps interpret electrical properties that may relate to geological structures, fluids and alteration. A viable geothermal project also depends on temperature and the characteristics required by the chosen technology.
Why use several methods?+
Each method responds to different physical properties. Agreement between independent datasets can strengthen an interpretation; disagreement can reveal a question worth investigating.
What is the difference between a model and a report?+
The model is a representation of possible underground conditions. The report explains its inputs, interpretation, reliability and implications for your next decision.
Can you update an older project?+
Yes. Existing data can be reviewed and reinterpreted within an agreed scope, and the interpretation can be updated as new information becomes available.
Does a consultation mean committing to fieldwork?+
No. Its purpose is to define the focus and identify an appropriate next step. That may be more desk-based work, specialist input, new measurements or a decision to pause.
